So start with a thicker gauge than what you want your finished product to be. Metal ready for hammer texturing should be clean oxide free annealed and bone dry. I rolled over the top surface of the metal with a hard rubber brayer which raised the pattern of the plate on the metal. You can use rolling mills to simply flatten thin harden your silver or you can run a sheet strip of silver through with something textured such as the brass sheets above as well as burlap tough leaves fine steel mesh etc to get cool patterns.

Place the sheet on a clean flat smooth steel block. Some people might prefer to apply a little tape to the sides of the plate to hold it in place but i just held mine in place. Completment the silver with various types of gold rose gold seems to shand out quite well you can texture the silver and have the gold elements with a bright finish dome different shapes them solder them onto a textured sheet or vise versa. If you are adding a hammered texture or putting your piece through a rolling mill with a texture sheet your metal will become thinner.

Tape the four corners down with painter s tape or masking tape. Cast some silver cuttlebone peices then solder them onto a silver sheet of bright finish. Wet metal causes tool rust and oxides on the metal will become embedded into the sheet during hammer texturing.
